Because water runs down hill, and since the eastern margins are lower than the western margins, the water run to the east from the west, and the lack of water creates deserts. The doldrums refer to the same region as the: intertropical convergence zone jet stream subtropical jet stream. subtropics. trade winds Asked by Alex B - Thu Feb 19 11:18:36 2009 - - 2 Answers - 0 Comments A. intertropical convergence zone (ITCZ). In response to Kay T: Much of your answer is incorrect. The ITCZ moves both north AND south of the equator, depending on the sun's zenith. It usually travels further north than south due to a larger influence from landmasses in the north. There can even be two ITCZ zones at once! Also, the winds aren't "neutralized" by being between the two trade wind zones. The lack of wind is caused by the fact that in the ITCZ, air is heated by the sun and rises causing an area of low pressure. This is the starting point of the Hadley circulation and one of the main drivers of weather for the entire planet. The only horizontal air movement in the ITCZ is coming from the trade wind regions at a very slow… [cont.] Answered by CamaroZ28c - Thu Feb 19 11:30:37 2009 Do you like this poem? If not why?
Q. Thoughts of a Penguin I'm always cold. If I had wings I would fly away, to a warmer climate. Like the subtropics I hear their nice, this time of year. Thank you evolution for taking my wings and giving me flippers instead. Every year I travel fifty miles in search of my mate, I try to be monogamous but sometimes he doesnt show up- and I get lonely. After a harsh winter I travel back to the ocean and feed on fish, If I had wings I could fly to the tropics and never have to travel on foot again. Dare I complain about evolution more, he may curse me with the unspoken words of global warming. Asked by me. - Sat Feb 2 13:33:22 2008 - - 2 Answers - 0 Comments A. Giving just a straight critique here: Honestly, it's kind of hard to follow. Poetry doesn't have to follow any specific structure - there are many to choose from - but it's good to pick one structure and follow it for the entire poem. It starts out as kind of a short thought, freeform structure, and then moves into a prose style. It then moves into an actual paragraph. The words - I think you're going for sarcasm or irony in the second paragraph, but it doesn't come across that way. It comes across as the penguin flip-flopping between hating and being thankful for its flippers and habitat. I think you've got the beginning of something workable here, but it needs to be refined. I would start out setting the structure and reworking… [cont.] Answered by hsmomlovinit - Sat Feb 2 14:53:01 2008 From Yahoo Answer Search: "subtropics"
