Yad Sarah
Yad Sarah is a large volunteer organization in Israel that provides a variety of services to people with occupational disabilities. The organization received the 1994 Israel Prize.
Yad Sarah initially operated as a Gemach, a small group for lending and borrowing, founded by Uri Lupolianski in 1976 in his private home in Sanhedria Murhevet. The center, which included some items and medical aids, was intended to help the needs of resident and nearby families. The organization's great success motivated Lupolianski's father to invest money he received from selling his shoe store to expand the Gemach. Since then, the organization was named Yad Sarah to commemorate Uri Lupolianski's grandmother Sarah, who was killed in the Holocaust. Yad Sarah's branch still operates in the Lupolianski home as of 2009. (Uri Lupolianski later served as mayor of Jerusalem.)
Nahal Tzofim
The neighborhood overlooks Nahal Tzofim which is a tributary of Nahal Sorek. The slope on the southern bank of Nahal Tzofim, which the neighborhood overlooks, is an open area with many terraces constructed during the Second Temple period, used for agriculture in antiquity. Other artifacts of antique agriculture, such as threshing-stones and cisterns, and burial caves, continue along the creek's path.
